JEWS SAY: STOP PROFITING FROM PALESTINIAN SUFFERING
Jews Say: Stop Profiting from Palestinian Suffering
Jewish Voice for Peace members protest Israel’s aggressive war of destruction in Gaza
WHEN: Thursday, June 17th, 2014, 12 p.m.
WHERE: Hewlett-Packard Company
In Front of HP headquarters on Page Mill Rd
Palo Alto, CA 94304-1185 USA
WHO: Jews and other people of conscience are staging a die-in inside Hewlett-Packard headquarters to protest the ongoing violence in Gaza and the company’s involvement in the Israeli Occupation.
WHAT: In response to the recent escalation of violence in Israel/Palestine, the local chapter of the national organization Jewish Voice for Peace protests against the ongoing assault on the people of Gaza. Since the beginning of Israel’s assault on Gaza, upwards of 210 people have been killed, many of them children. Demonstrating at the headquarters of Hewlett-Packard, demonstrators are calling on the company to end its involvement in the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. They are calling for an end to Israeli state violence and the call for human rights and justice for the Palestinian people.
WHY: HP’s information technology administers the Israeli navy’s electronic infrastructure, and provides all PCs used by the Israeli military. This technology maintains the blockade of Gaza, keeping a population of 1.8 million Palestinians captive, with no place to escape as Israel continues its attacks by air, land, and sea. In fact, only yesterday 4 children—ages 9 to 11—were killed by the Israeli navy as they were playing soccer, in an Israeli attacked witnessed by NBC News and The Guardian. The company also provides ongoing support and maintenance to a biometric ID system installed in Israeli checkpoints in the occupied West Bank, which deprive Palestinians of freedom of movement in their own land and allow the Israeli military occupation to grant or deny special privileges to the civilians under its control.
