JVP condemns anti-semitic incidents
In these terrible days, JVP is heartened to see the massive growth in the global movement to demand justice for Palestinians and an end to Israel’s current assault, which has now left over 600 Palestinians dead, including 100 children. As a part of this movement, we affirm the values we see reflected in the vast majority of our allies and partners to building a multiracial, interfaith movement that is strongly committed to realizing justice, equality, and safety for all people.
There are concerning reports of protests against the Gaza assault in Europe that have included anti-Jewish violence. Jewish Voice for Peace condemns these attacks in the strongest possible terms and calls on our allies in Europe to oppose anti-Jewish bias with vigilance and clarity as part of their struggle for justice for Palestinians.
Even more urgently, we cannot ignore that Israel’s horrific assault on Palestinian civilians in Gaza is being fueled by violent and inflammatory anti-Arab and Islamophobic rhetoric from Israeli leaders as well as at pro-war rallies across the globe, including many in the US.
As a movement, we must be unafraid to confront the cynical cooptation of our struggle for justice by the few who would use it to justify their anti-Jewish violence. We must also call out the deep foundation of racism that enables US and Israeli support for war and Occupation.
