JVP statement regarding bus attack in Bulgaria
Jewish Voice for Peace is deeply saddened by the recent news of a bus explosion in Bulgaria, which has caused the death of at least seven Israeli tourists and the injury of many others. As of the writing of this statement no one has claimed responsibility for what the Bulgarian Interior Ministry described as a terrorist attack. We reiterate our opposition and condemnation of any kind of violence against civilians, anywhere and and at any time. We hope that those responsible for this crime are aprehended and tried in a court of law. We call on the Israeli authorities not to use this reprehensible act to launch a military attack against Palestinians living under the occupation and to use its police and army forces in order to prevent retaliation acts by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.
