Today, the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, presented a bid for the state of Palestine, based on the 1967 borders, to be considered by the Security Council for full membership in the United Nations.

This is a shameful day for the legal system and the Jewish communal leaders who actively supported this unfair railroading of young Muslim students and unprecedented attack on everyone's right to free speech. How can it be that the Israeli ambassador enjoys more rights in the United States than do young Muslim citizens?

We hope this prompts some real soul searching among those who actively supported the case against the Irvine students simply because they didn’t like what the students had to say about Israel's human rights record.

I'm 67 years old, and starting to think about just what kind of legacy I'm leaving on this earth— especially after the recent devastating attacks in Eilat, Israel, and the air strikes on the trapped people of Gaza.

JVP is looking for a Social Media Intern, an Organizing Intern, and a New York Office Intern to do a mix of grassroots organizing, social media production, administrative tasks, & research and writing. Internships for the 2011-2012 academic year are available beginning late August 2011. Interns would ideally work out of either our Oakland, Seattle or NYC offices, or can potentially work remotely from their homes, wherever they live.
