Church to Vote Thursday to Recommend Divestment to General Assembly
Oakland, CA (Feb 5, 2014)- Jewish Voice for Peace commends the Presbyterian Church (USA) as it considers divesting its assets from three multinational companies (Caterpillar,Hewlett-Packard, and Motorola Solutions.) that profit from Israel's military occupation and colonization of Palestinian lands.

The House of Representatives left DC for the year just hours ago, and with it they left behind a terrible bill. The US-Israel Strategic Partnership Act included admission for Israel into the US Visa Waiver Program, which would have codified in US law the right for Israel to discriminate against US citizens on the basis of religion or ethnicity.

We've just received the welcome news from our allies on the ground that the Prawer Plan to forcibly relocate over 40,000 Israeli Bedouin from their ancestral lands is no longer under consideration by the Israeli Knesset. The recent demonstrations on both sides of the Green Line, and throughout the world, succeeded in raising enough doubt about this plan to help take it off the table.

The Israeli Knesset is about to approve the Prawer Plan, which would initiate the forced relocation of 40,000 Bedouin citizens of Israel, and the destruction of dozens of villages. The 140,000 supporter-strong Jewish Voice for Peace today welcomed Secretary of State John Kerry’s commitment to nuclear talks with Iran, and condemned Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu’s continued obstruction of meaningful peace talks with the Palestinians and open contempt of talks with Iran.
