Netanyahu speech provides opportunity to question US/Israel Š_…Special RelationshipŠ__

In his controversial speech before a joint session of Congress today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attempted to undermine US diplomacy with Iran and set the US on a path towards a possible military confrontation with Iran. The speech sparked an unprecedented pushback from Congressional Democrats, and activists working for a just and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

Jewish Voice for Peace Executive Director Rebecca Vilkomerson: Š__The controversy sparked by Prime Minister NetanyahuŠ__s speech provides an important opportunity to highlight the real problem, the US/Israeli special relationship. Unprecedented financial and diplomatic support from the United States has long enabled Israel to defy international law and commit human rights abuses with impunity. ItŠ__s time for our elected officials to catch up with the increasing number of voters who believe that IsraelŠ__s policies of occupation, systemic discrimination, and incessant settlement building are the key barriers to peace.Š__

WATCH NOW: JVP Executive Director Rebecca Vilkomerson, along with Jamal Abdi of the National Iranian-American Council and Josh Ruebner of the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, discuss the speech on a live talk-back TODAY at 12 NOON at: JVP.org/Congress. (will be archived and shared)
