Civil rights groups and members of Congress are pressing the Justice Department to renew its investigation of a 1985 office bombing that killed Palestinian-American civil rights leader Alex Odeh and injured seven people.

Peter Beinart’s recent New York Review of Books piece, “The American Jewish Cocoon,” makes an important point about the Jewish community’s lack of understanding of Palestinians. However, while it initially reads as a progressive call for deeper understanding, at its core it continues to reflect many of the damaging assumptions of the mainstream Jewish community that he claims to assail.

41 faith leaders from national Christian, Jewish, and Muslim organizations called on Congress to oppose the proposed authorization for the use of military force in Syria. The list of signatories includes Rebecca Vilkomerson (Jewish Voice for Peace)as well as Rabbi Brant Rosen and Alissa Wis (Co-Chairs of Jewish Voice for Peace Rabbinical Council).
